Our Voice, Our Future Co-Design Symposium

On the 6th of October, Women with Disabilities Victoria’s Workforce Development team hosted the ‘Our Voice, Our Future Co-Design Symposium’.  The event was attended by representatives from the health, government, prevention of violence against women (PVAW), disability and social services sectors. The event aimed to support organisations to incorporate lived expertise into their work.

In order to demonstrate inclusive co-design in practice, the event centred diverse lived-experience voices. Presenters included members of the Health Services and Gender and Disability Teams, including WDV’s Experts by Experience. They were joined by project partners and allies including Women’s Health East, CASA House, Safe and Equal and evaluation consultant Wei Leng Kwok.

The symposium highlighted the importance of amplifying the voices of women with disabilities through collaboration. The event featured WDV’s co-designed PVAW and Health resources, which are available to download on the WDV website.

“Sharing power – stepping aside and giving space for people with lived experience to be the expert in the room, as they are the expert!” – Symposium Attendee
